Sean McGarvey
Middle School Assistant Principal
Sean is entering his 5th year at GEMS Dubai American Academy. He has been in education since 2007. Before joining DAA, Sean worked as a classroom teacher and as an Assistant Principal in a public school in Dublin, Ireland. From the outset he was very passionate about student wellbeing and has a strong belief in building positive relationships with all members of a school community. Sean received his Bachelor of Arts Degree from the National University of Ireland, Galway and his Postgraduate Diploma in Education from Dublin City University. He has a certificate in Middle Leadership and is currently in the process of completing a Masters in Educational Leadership.
Since joining DAA, Sean has worked as a Social Studies teacher and as a Head of Grade before taking up his current role. He is very excited about continuing into his role as Middle School Dean of Students and working with an amazing group of educators. Sean’s wife Lisa is also part of the DAA family and is an ELL teacher in the Middle School.
In his free time, he enjoys playing Gaelic Football with a team here in Dubai. He loves to travel and enjoys nothing more than going home to Ireland to see his friends and family.
