Dr. Sarah Verdoia

Sarah is thrilled to serve our school community as the new IB Diploma Programme Coordinator. 

She joined DAA in 2019 with her daughter who is currently in Grade 10. She had the privilege of leading the Modern Foreign Languages department while teaching French across all grade levels and Theory of Knowledge.

Born and raised in France, Sarah studied humanities at La Sorbonne and holds a PhD in applied and general linguistics, a Master’s degree in teaching French as a foreign or second language, and a Bachelor’s degree in French language and literature. 

She started her career in Sweden as a French and Spanish teacher and later taught linguistics at La Sorbonne in Paris and French at the American University in Dubai. 

Sarah is an active member of the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE), where she contributes as both an author and a publication reviewer, pursuing her educational interests that include student agency, collaborative learning and mindful assessment. 

Sarah is dedicated to the IB mission which aims to “develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect.” She is honored to continue nurturing our students’ personal growth, fostering international-mindedness and promoting academic excellence. She extends her commitment to the Diploma Programme through her roles as an IB principal examiner and IB assessment content developer. 

Beside her passion for the IB Diploma Programme, Sarah enjoys the seaside, playing the piano, working out at the gym and heading to any cold destination during summer time.
