Ian McHugh
Director of HS Academic Pathways / AP Coordinator
Ian is excited to be joining the GEMS DAA community.
Ian was born in the United Kingdom and completed his degree and teaching qualifications in the North West of England. After nearly a decade in UK schools, Ian moved internationally in 2008 where he met his wife, Louise, who also joins DAA. They have welcomes two daughters along the way and have had the pleasure of working in international schools across the world.
Ian joins DAA as Director of Academic Pathways after working for seven years as an IB Coordinator with oversight of IB Diploma Program and IB Career-related Program. Ian has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in History and Educational Studies from Lancaster University and a Post Graduate Certificate of Education from the same university. Ian is also a certified approved Accreditation Visitor for the New England Association of Schools and College (NEASC).
Ian spends time with family away from school, and enjoys travel to visit friends and family across the globe. Ian is also an avid reader and likes nothing more than a good book.
