Assistant High School Principal
2019 will be Jim’s 7th year at DAA and 16th Year in Education. Jim’s background is in the Natural Sciences and has a Bachelor of Science majoring in marine science from Southern Cross University, Australia.
Upon completion of his Diploma in secondary education from the University of Western Australia, Jim taught across a range of educational systems including Australian, English, American as well as being involved in the International Baccalaureate programs. Jim’s passion for travel and education led him to complete a Masters in international education from Bath University, UK. Jim has held a number of leadership roles over his 16-year career in education from KS3 coordinator, Head of Department, to IB coordinator, his interest in education and bringing the best out of students prompted Jim to begin a second Masters in educational leadership and management from the University of Newcastle, Australia. Jim’s professional interests focus on developing students approaches to learning, building high quality learning environments, assessment practices and international mindedness. Jim is joined at DAA by his wife Mandy who is the ES librarian and his two children Oakley (4) and Zoe (2).
