Grade Placement
DAA seeks to make the most appropriate grade placement for each student based on his or her age as well as academic and social and emotional development within Board policy guidelines. Each new student for grades 1 through 12 may be asked to complete appropriate level assessments. In some instances, students may be asked to return for additional testing or interviewing. DAA closely observes and monitors the grade placement for all new students for at least a three-week period to ensure that students have been appropriately placed.

DAA does not provide full service special education resources to students with an IEP from previous schools. Students must be successful with moderate assistance in the regular classroom curriculum program provided or not eligible to continue.

English Language Proficiency
In order for students to fully participate in the school’s instructional programs, students are required to have English language proficiency. Students may be admitted without such proficiency provided they satisfy all enrollment regulations and qualify for DAA’s ESL program, subject to availability of space. Students in grades 11 and 12 must be fully proficient in English as the ESL program is not available in the high school program.

Previous Schooling
All new students must provide official documentation of previous school experience, including transcripts, report card and test scores. All documents provided must be in English. DAA may request certification of translation from the Consulate of the country in which the student last attended to meet admission requirements.

Tuition Payment
Tuition and fees are payable in advance of attendance and are assessed in accordance with the fee structure established by GEMS. Tuition and fees are the primary source of the school’s operating budget. Therefore, prompt payment is appreciated to ensure the continuing quality of DAA’s programs. For fee structure, click here.

New Students:  To ensure a place for the next academic year, payment of the full first semester school fees are required before June 15 prior to commencement of the new academic year. This amount will reserve a place and will count as the first semester tuition fee---this is not an additional fee.

Returning Students:  A re-enrollment deposit equivalent to the value of the first semester’s tuition fees will be required to reserve a place for returning students. The payment for returning students will be due on or before August 1 to reserve a place. This amount will count as the first semester’s tuition fee------this is not an additional fee.

No returning student shall be allowed to re-enter in August for a new school year unless bills of every nature for the prior year have been paid.

Company Benefits
Parents should note that even if their employer does provide education benefits, the company may not be considered a “Company Pay” account for DAA. Parents should check with the Registration Office to inquire about their employer’s status. Parents may have to pay the tuition first and then be reimbursed from their employer, which may have financial implications for families new to Dubai.

Parent Pay Accounts
Payment invoices and receipts cannot be split between the parent and the sponsoring company. If a company’s policy does not provide for full payment of school fees, the student account will be shown as a parent pay in the school’s records. This requires parents to pay the registration fee, tuition for the current semester upon initial enrollment and before class attendance. Parents would then seek reimbursement from their company.

Methods of Payment
All tuition and fees are payable in UAE Dirhams or US Dollars only. Funds may be drawn on a UAE bank through a personal check or a bank draft.

Refunds
Refunds will not be granted after June 15 for new students and not after August 1 for returning students.   If payment has not been received by these dates the school reserves the right to offer the school place to another student.

For Kindergarten 1 students only, a full refund will be made if the Principal determines that the child is not ready for the program.

Company Accounts
Companies and organizations that have a current account with DAA are requested to provide parents of new students a letter stating that the company will be responsible for payment of tuition and fees. These companies are then required to pay the registration fee, tuition for the current semester within 30 days of the date the new student is accepted for enrollment.
