The school environment supports a culture of kindness that is reflected in the way children, teachers, parents and staff interact with one another. With more than 75 passport nationalities enrolled at the school, we recognize our differences and celebrate our similarities as global citizens, helping to prepare students for success in growing multi-culture society.
In the Early Years we place a great emphasis on learning through play. Classrooms are organized around learning centers for the development of academic, as well as, social skills. Within our culture of kindness, children are provided with opportunities to develop an understanding of their own feelings and the feelings of others, take risks and learn from mistakes, interact appropriately within a group, and respond to others in a positive manner. The Early Years program foster children’s self esteem by focusing on their individual strengths and using these as a building block for future citizenship.
Our Kindergarten program focuses on building the foundations for a successful school life, while the curriculum for students in grades 1 through 5 emphasizes basic skills in all subject areas and introduces higher level skills to challenge students and stimulate their interests. The curriculum fosters the concept that learning will be enjoyable and rewarding throughout the students' lives.
In all grades, a continuous progress approach is used in the core curricular areas of reading, writing, mathematics, science and social studies. In addition to the core subjects, students receive instruction in physical education, music, art, Arabic culture, library science and instructional technology. Our curriculum is highly innovative and provides each child with opportunities to grow and be challenged through a differentiated approach.
Students are provided opportunities to demonstrate their many talents, communication skills and leadership qualities through curricular and co-curricular activities. Teachers encourage and assist students in becoming active learners, integrating their ideas, feelings and experiences into the instructional program. Students are encouraged to accept responsibility for their conduct, thereby enhancing their feelings of self-esteem and self-confidence.
